How it will work
-
Step 1: Scan the QR code in the tram
Each tram gets its own code. It opens the tour straight in your phone's browser.
-
Step 2: Press play
Put your headphones on and lock the screen if you like. The tour keeps going.
-
Step 3: The tram's GPS keeps time
Tallinn publishes where every tram is, live. The tour follows yours and plays each story as you pass the place.
Free for riders, and nothing to install: it runs in the browser.
What you'll pass
Twenty-six stops from the airport to Kopli, past a Soviet palace of culture, a sea fortress turned prison and a shipyard town built so workers never had to leave.
Why it matters
-
History on everyday routes
Plague graves, a submarine yard and a secret Soviet plant sit along a line people ride to work, and most pass them without knowing.
-
A commute becomes a city guide
The same ride, but now you know what you're looking at. For locals it's a new view of home; for visitors, a guided tour for the price of a tram ticket.
-
A youth project
Liinilood was founded with Ideelava, a youth non-profit. Its wider aim is digital and educational projects about culture and heritage, with young people involved.
Looking for partners
To put Liinilood on the trams, we need the transport operator, the city, museums and businesses along the line on board.

Liinilood is starting with tram T2
We're building a location-based audio tour for Tallinn's public transport. The first line is T2, from the airport to Kopli, and the research for it is done.
