Liinilood is starting with tram T2
We're building a location-based audio tour for Tallinn's public transport. The first line is T2, from the airport to Kopli, and the research for it is done.
Liinilood (Estonian for "line stories") is an audio tour for Tallinn's trams and buses. You scan a QR code in the tram, press play, and hear short stories about the places outside the window. The tour uses the tram's own live GPS position, which Tallinn publishes, so each story starts as you pass the place.
Why T2
T2 is Tallinn's longest tram line. It runs 10.7 km from the airport through the city centre and the Old Harbour to Kopli, past Soviet factories, a sea fortress turned prison, Kalamaja's wooden houses and the shipyards of Kopli.
The research is done
Our team researched 65 stories along the line and checked them against sources. 61 made it into the first tour, and you can read short teasers for all of them on the T2 route page. The full stories are saved for the audio.
What's next
Next we write the scripts and record them, then test the tour with riders on T2. We're looking for partners to do it with: the transport operator, the city, museums, sponsors and grant bodies. If that's you, get in touch.
Liinilood is run by a new non-profit founded by Tristan Priit Allik and Aaron Torm Peebo, with the youth non-profit Ideelava.
